Instagram Augmented Reality

Augmented Reality Art using Spark AR.

By creating augmented abstractions, I’m questioning how people interact with a work when it’s taken outside of their familiar experiences of social augmented reality as beauty filters, cutesy animals, and advertising.

I enable viewers to use my work as a tool to experience my point of view and also interpret and remix it as their own. I’ve noticed that people view and use my work in different ways based on their geographical location, cultural norms, and social media behaviors. Some collaboratively use filters to create new works of video and performance art. Others see them purely to showcase a “vibe” or “aesthetic” when going through their daily social routine.
